Kevin Loaec's public safety warning that a forthcoming Bitcoin fork coin will create scam opportunities targeting holders seeking to sell an airdrop. Held as dated guidance on scams exploiting the post-incident panic; the risk assessment is the poster's own and is not independently verified here.

Replies are unmoderated third-party material, reproduced here as part of the record. Inclusion is not endorsement, and nothing in them has been checked by this project.
Replies held in this capture (88)

Low-signal replies are collapsed to one line, never removed. A reply is collapsed only on mechanical grounds: fewer than 40 characters, no text, mentions only, no letters or digits, a bare link, or text identical to another reply in the same capture. What a reply argues is never a reason. Each one says which rule collapsed it, and its screenshot is one click away.

  1. Saturday is just the start of the signaling period, right? I didn’t think nodes would actually start enforcing bip-110 till September. So if someone tries to sell bip-110 coins before this, then they will be automatically get duped into selling their real bitcoin

This is why this thread is important. The network will split on Saturday, but the new rules won't apply yet. Which makes the replay attack trivial, and hard to defend against. Every transaction valid on one, is valid on the other. (Assuming the utxo exists).

They are convinced miners will follow the bip110 rules, and if this were to happen (50+% of the hash rate) then there would be no split. Wishful thinking though.

NO! If you send your bdash to this person, they can also TAKE ALL YOUR BITCOIN. This is called a replay attack.

The 2 chains will diverge on Saturday. But they keep the EXACT SAME rules, there is no "op_return" change or anything like that at first. Meaning you cannot protect your coins by sending them with a BIP110 invalid transaction, at least not in the near future.

will be targeted, because hey, sounds good to do +10% on your BTC right? But you might be a victim too, so be extremely careful what you sign. People have bad intentions out there, when it's about stealing your coins. Take care, anon.

Easy: their nodes refuse blocks that do not signal for bip110. What that means is that they will have an alternative chain (with nearly no hashrate), just because they don't accept normal blocks.

How to check this yourself

The excerpts and plain unified diffs above show the text this project held and how it changed. To verify a quotation, compare it against the page itself or against the Internet Archive's copies, which are independent of this project.

Complete captures are held offline rather than mirrored here, so this page shows diffs and excerpts. If a quotation is ever disputed, the full copy can be produced. Ask.
