 I'm on my 3rd CC, literally just arrived before the hack. The other 2 both bricked exactly 2 years after I received them.
 
 No explanation from CC, they just gave me a 50% voucher each time for a new one. I didn't do anything weird, just plugged it in and it bricked itself

+This happened to me a few years ago, bricked after a firmware update. I asked customer service what the root cause could have been with no answer, just the 50% discount.

+Moved to a different hardware wallet after that, however I only imported the original seed phrase. I’m glad I used dice rolls when generating, otherwise I would most likely be caught up in all this. Finished migrating to a new seed a few days ago, at this point I want nothing to do with Coinkite/Cold Card.

+I'm in a similar position. I used dice rolls and I'm in a multisig, so not affected at all. But why would I keep a coldcard in my multisig now? If the company fades, then support/developement will fade with it.

Could I just put the seed into a software wallet and transfer out that way…. Or on a platform like casa you have to actually have the coldcard do the transfer

You can use sparrow wallet on pc and effectively use that to sign and transfer while you get your bearings in the hardware wallet stuff.

Do this in a secure computer. Follow proper Opsec

 Search the subreddit and you'll find years of people complaining about devices (mk4s to Q's) getting bricked for no good reason. Sometimes even 2 out of 3 coldcards in a row get bricked. CoinKite sends them a new device every time, but they never address why it happens so often or what causes it. Just another one of their issues they sweep under the rug.
