I have been trying to upgrade the firmware once I heard the news but the device is not booting up and stuck on this splash screen forever. 

Used 7 different cables/batteries/power sources, nothing helped. 

Can’t find any info about recovery mode to reinstall the new firmware. 

Opened a support ticket 2 days ago but they haven’t responded. 

Any clues?

I ordered another brand but will take a few days to get delivered. Want to create seeds using dice rolls but no luck booting this shit up.   
Only immediate option is a hot wallet to move my funds to.

    What changed from the previous capture 16 lines 
     There are ways to flip a coin for entropy and map that too the word list. Then you just need a device (could be offline laptop or old phone) to generate the 24th word options (and flip a coin 3 more times to select one).
 
 Hardware wallets aren't required for generating an offline seed, they just make it easier to stay airgapped.
