 Use dice rolls and verify online that seeds match. This tells you if the ColdCard is generating the right mathematical results. Once confirmed, it’s safe to use your dice rolls to create your actual seed.

 Well, the whole point is to just trust the code of the firmware, not the company. The code is all that matters when it comes to hardware wallets. If the firmware is good, I dont care how the company is behaving. 
 
 Problem is, very few people can inspect the patch by themselves and check the fix before upgrading the coldcard.

 when I was doing research on cold wallets Mk3 cold card caught my attention because I saw it on a Btc magazine but I went with Trezor because the mk3 cold card just sounded complex for a beginner

 The inverse of this is they say to not trust, verify. What’s it say about the end user who didn’t over the years. If it’s lazy to not catch it it’s even lazier to not have listened to the people you trusted up until a few days ago.

 I am with you. I don’t understand why this event makes the device less good than any other. Yes they had an issue, they may have more. It’s naive to think that all the other devices are perfect. Has anyone looked to see how often a Microsoft Windows security update has to be released?! Do we think there are no vulnerabilities in banking software?!
